State Men's Tennis To Host Georgia State Sunday

STARKVILLE, Miss. ? The Mississippi State men’s tennis team will conclude a weekend of play at home with a 1 p.m. match Sunday, hosting the Georgia State Panthers (0-8).

MSU improved to 3-2 on the season with a Friday win over the visiting Memphis Tigers, 6-1. It was the sixth straight win over the Tigers, dating back to 1989.

Georgia State is still in search of their first win of the season after dropping their first eight.

MSU’s tandem of sophomore Antonio Lastre and freshman Daniel Sanchez remained undefeated in doubles on the season (5-0) after winning their bout against Memphis. Lastre has also shined in singles this season at the #5 spot, fresh off his 6-1, 6-1 win against the Tigers on Friday. He is now 4-1.

Georgia State is led by senior Nejc Podkrajsek, who is currently ranked 119th in the country in singles.

The two teams met last season at A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre, with MSU taking the match 6-1, and improving their record to 2-0 all-time against the Panthers.
