Bulldogs Look To Sweep Tide For Second Year In A Row

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State travels to Alabama on Saturday looking to sweep the Crimson Tide for the second-straight year and extend its winning streak in this series to six.
Tipoff at Coleman Coliseum is slated for 2 p.m.
Earlier this year, MSU (17-9, 7-4) claimed its fifth-straight victory against Bama (13-12, 3-8) with an 83-74 win at Humphrey Coliseum. The longest winning streak the Bulldogs have enjoyed in this series is seven, which occurred from 1916-1921.
The Bulldogs are also looking to achieve a feat its accomplished only three times - beating the Crimson Tide back-to-back in Tuscaloosa. The last time that happened was in a 1998 and 1999. The other two instances came in 1959 and 1961 and twice in 1921.
Earlier this year in Starkville, MSU overcame a 36-33 deficit at the break to claim the win. Phil Turner led the charge with a 17-point effort, while Dee Bost and Barry Stewart each added 13. Jarvis Varnado also had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
After Saturday, the Bulldogs conclude their two-game road swing with a trip to Tennessee on Wednesday in an 8 p.m. game televised by Raycom. MSU returns to Humphrey Coliseum on Feb. 28 against Auburn.
