MSU Women's Track Team Returns To Fayetteville For Tyson Invitational

STARKVILLE, Miss. ? Mississippi State women’s indoor track and field team travels to Fayetteville, Ark., this weekend to compete in the Tyson invitational at the Randal Tyson Complex.

The two day event is set to begin on Friday and concludes on Saturday.

“I am expecting to accomplish a SEC tune-up at this invitational,” coach Al Schmidt said. “I want our older athletes to throw down some impressive marks before SEC.”

State's Wendy Copeland looks to keep up her success after finishing third in the long jump (19 feet-09.75 inches) at the Kentucky Invitational last weekend.

“I anticipate Wendy Copeland to do well at the Arkansas invitational,” Schmidt said.

The Lady Bulldogs will compete against 48 different colleges and universities. Rival SEC schools competing include Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Tennessee.

After the Tyson Invite, Mississippi State heads to Kentucky for the 2009 SEC Indoor Championships, scheduled to begin on Friday, February 27.
