MSU's Luke Adkins Earns Player Of Week Honors

STARKVILLE, Miss. - A red-hot start at the plate has netted team player of the week honors for Mississippi State outfielder Luke Adkins of Nettleton, Miss.
Adkins, competing for Bethesda (Md.) in the Cal Ripken, Sr. Collegiate Baseball League, opened the 2008 summer season with 12 hits in his first 24 at-bats, two doubles, a triple, six walks, two stolen bases and a team-best .600 on-base percentage and .667 slugging percentage. He’s also played error-free defense through his first seven games. For his exploits Adkins was tabbed as the Bethesda Big Train’s season-opening player of the week.
A 2006 freshman All-American selection, Adkins sat out the 2008 campaign at MSU as a redshirt after transferring from Southern Miss.
