Lady Bulldogs Travel To Sunshine State For Canes And Cardinal Classic

STARKVILLE, Miss.-On the heels of a fifth place finish last week at the John Kirk/Lady Panther Intercollegiate, the Mississippi State women's golf team will begin play at the Canes and Cardinal Classic on Monday. The two day, 54-hole event will take place at the Don Shula Golf Club in Miami, Fla.
MSU will start the same lineup as last week including the John Kirk Individual champion Suzanne Stanley. Also participating will be senior Julia Huh, sophomore Gina Sharp along with freshmen Mallory Batson and Erika Thornton.
"Due to interrupted travel plans we may only get to play half of our practice round," said MSU head coach Christi Sanders. "The good news is that four of the five players have played the golf course before. As for the tournament, the field it strong and that is what we need as a prelude for the SEC Championship."
Other teams in the 14-team field include Boise State, College of Charleston, Florida International, Furman, Georgia State, Kansas State, Louisville, Miami, Middle Tennessee, Missouri, Notre Dame, USF and Tulsa.
First and second round action will be played Monday beginning with a shotgun start at 7 a.m. CT. Tuesday's final round will also begin at 7 a.m. CT.
