MSU Track And Field Teams Journey To Georgia For Bulldog Limited On Saturday

STARKVILLE, Miss. ? The Mississippi State track and field teams journey to Athens, Ga. on Saturday, April 19, to compete in the Bulldog Limited. The meet is taking place at the Spec Towns Track on the campus of the University of Georgia.
The MState Bulldogs will contend against Kennesaw State, Samford and host-Georgia, who has both men’s and women’s teams ranked 20th in the latest USTFCCCA poll. There will also be a number of unattached athletes in the meet, as well.
MSU heads into the weekend having already compiled 31 NCAA regional qualifying marks through seven weeks of outdoor competition. Those who have qualified will compete at the NCAA Mideast Regional in Fayetteville, Ark. on May 30-31 with a chance to advance to the NCAA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa on June 11-14. Eight of MSU’s regional qualifying marks have come from relays.
The Bulldogs earned six NCAA regional qualifying marks at the Ole Miss Invitational last weekend, while the Lady Bulldogs picked up one.
Sophomore Kendall May (Northport, Ala.) ran a personal-best 10.39 seconds in the 100-meter dash to notch his regional qualifying mark. Senior Jamil Hubbard (Atlanta, Ga.) pulled double duty earning regional qualifying standards in both the 200- and 400-meter dashes. Hubbard took third in the 200 with a time of 21.06 and second in the 400 with a personal-best time of 46.96.
Senior Golden Coachman (Birmingham, Ala.) won the 800-meter run, carding a time of 1:49.23 to gain his second regional qualifying mark of the season. Freshman Emanuel Mayers (Lakewood, N.J.) also earned his second regional qualifying standard with his second-place time of 52.32 in the 400-meter hurdles.
MState grabbed their last mark of the weekend with a 3:08.47 first-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. This was the first time the Bulldogs used the combination of Hubbard, senior Chris Woods (Atlanta, Ga.), Coachman and Mayers.
Sophomore Bridgett Rose (Leeds, Ala.) was the lone Lady Bulldog to earn a regional qualifying mark in the 100-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 13.68. Rose, who already ranked second in the 100-meter hurdles all-time, improved on her time in the event.
The Bulldog Limited is scheduled to begin with the women’s hammer throw at 9 a.m. (EST) and the running events are scheduled to begin at 12:15 p.m.
