MSU, Baylor Begin Cadence Classic With Sunday Doubleheader

STARKVILLE, Miss. - After a two-day weather delay, the eighth annual Cadence Bank Classic gets under way Sunday when Mississippi State (5-4) takes on No. 11 Baylor (8-1) in a 1:30 p.m. doubleheader at Dudy Noble Field. The series was originally scheduled to begin Friday afternoon, but a mix of rain, snow and cold temperatures forced the postponement of both the Friday and Saturday games.
The series will conclude with a Monday contest at 1 p.m.
MSU senior lefty Justin Pigott (2-0, 2.25) and Baylor right-hander Kendal Volz (2-01.93), the starting pitchers in last year's MSU-Baylor meeting in the 2007 Quala-T Imprints Baylor Classic, are scheduled to open on the hill in the first game of Sunday's twinbill. The Bulldogs nipped the Bears 8-6 in lasat year's meeting in Waco, texas, evening the all-time series at three wins each.
MSU baseball seson ticket-holders are advised to use the Friday (Mar. 7) MSU-Baylor ticket for admission to the Sunday doubleheader and the Sunday (Mar. 9) season ticket for Monday's 1 p.m. game.
All three games will be broadcast on WFCA-FM and available on the internet via live video streaming to subscribers of "Maroon to the Max", the premium extension of MSU's athletics web site, MStateAthletics.com. The radio broadcast of the opening game of the Sunday doubleheader will be carried on nearly two dozen stations statewide as the initial network broadcast on the statewide MSU Baseball Radio Network.
