Bulldogs Begin Break With End Of Second Spring Week

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State University's spring holiday could not have come at a better time for head coach Sylvester Croom's Bulldogs. Chased inside by inclement weather for the third time in four practices this week, the team worked out for two hours inside the Palmeiro Center on Friday.
As the team finished its second week of work with its ninth spring practice, State practiced without several members of its starting units.
"We have some of our defensive linemen hurt and we're down a couple of centers," Croom said. "But it doesn't make any difference. If we had to line up and play a game, we'd line up and play who we've got."
The head coach lamented the lack of execution near the end of practice, citing offsides penalties and fumbled quarterback-center exchanges as the most egregious offenses.
"Every time we have a fumble on a quarterback-center exchange or jump offsides the whole team is going to (be disciplined)," Croom said. "We have to get that corrected because we cannot beat ourselves."
Off the practice fields, the team received positive news about the recovery of fullback Devon Edwards, injured during Thursday's practice. Edwards remains in Memphis, but has motion in all of his extremities and is expected to have a full recovery.
