MSU Women's Tennis Travels To South Carolina, Hosts Florida

STARKVILLE, Miss. ? Mississippi State’s Lady Bulldog tennis team travels to 33rd-ranked South Carolina on Friday, March 21, and returns home to host fourth-ranked Florida on Easter Sunday, March 23. The match with the Gamecocks is set for 1 p.m. CT on Friday. Sunday’s contest against the Gators is also slated for a 1 p.m. CT start.
MSU enters this weekend’s action with a 7-5 overall record. MSU won two non-conference matches last week with victories over 74th-ranked Eastern Illinois (7-0) and Indiana State (4-3).
The match versus South Carolina will serve as the 20th meeting between the two schools. USC holds an 18-1 advantage all-time in the series with an 8-1 edge in matches played in Columbia. South Carolina enters the match 8-5 on the season and 1-3 in SEC play.
The match on Sunday will mark the 27th meeting between State and Florida. The Gators are currently undefeated against the Lady Bulldogs all-time holding a 26-0 record. Florida is 10-1 in 2008 with their only loss coming against ninth-ranked Duke. They are 4-0 in league play. The Gators are the second top-10 team the Lady Bulldogs have played host to this season (#2 Georgia).
Following this weekend’s action, the Lady Bulldogs will remain at home to host 23rd-ranked Kentucky on Friday, March 28, at 2 p.m. CT and 11th-ranked Vanderbilt on Sunday, March 30, at 1 p.m. Both home matches will be part of 2008 Super Bulldog Weekend festivities.
