Dogs Return To Practice Fields After Spring Break

STARKVILLE, Miss. ? Head football coach Sylvester Croom was not enthusiastic about the execution of his team as they returned from a nine-day layoff for the university’s spring holiday. The Bulldogs worked through a two-and-one-half hour workout at the Shira/Holliman Athletic Center Practice Fields on Monday.
“Unlike last year where we always practiced well after we came off breaks, today was rather sloppy,” Croom said. “We looked very sluggish.”
The Bulldogs welcomed back a host of players who had missed practice time prior to the break, including a group of defensive linemen: Rodney Prince, Brandon Cooper, Jimmie Holmes, LaMarcus Williams and Quinton Wesley.
Also returning to the fields were center J.C. Brignone, safeties Keith Fitzhugh, Chris Nance, and Zach Smith and wide receiver Brandon McRae.
Despite the return to action of so many contributors, the head coach continued to see a recurring issue during the spring practice sessions.
“We still had too many quarterback-center exchange (problems),” Croom said. “That concerns me considerably. We should be past that right now.”
The team also welcomed a pair of unexpected guests in injured fullback Devon Edwards and former quarterback Michael Henig, who both watched the early parts of practice from the sidelines.
The Bulldogs will again practice on Tuesday and Thursday of this week before taking off four days for the Easter weekend.
