Homan Slips To Third At Mississippi Amateur; Fast And Oller Move Up Leaderboard

MADISON, Miss. ? Mississippi State’s men’s golf coach Clay Homan slipped into a tie for third place after 36 holes of the 2007 Mississippi State Amateur Golf Championship contested at Reunion Golf and Country Club this weekend. Homan opened the event with a 67 on Thursday to claim the opening day clubhouse lead.
The fourth-year head coach carded a round of 76 on Friday and will head into the weekend competition tied with MSU golfer Josh Oller and Scott Rhodes of Ridgeland, Miss. Oller posted his second-straight even par round of 72 in the second round. Homan and Oller sit just one shot back of State’s Matt Fast, who had the best round of the Bulldog contingent with a round of 70. Steve Wilson of Ocean Springs, Miss. holds the lead after two rounds after firing a 4-under par round of 67. MSU’s Jake Lambert moved into the top-10 with a 1-over par 73.
The 2007 Mississippi State Amateur Championship will continue thru Sunday, June 9.
