Bulldogs Sign Texas Catcher Logan Moro

Moro is a 6-2, 197-pound right-handed hitting catcher and three-year starter at James E. Taylor High School in Katy, Texas. He earned 2007 Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 5A Texas All-State and All-Greater Houston team honors following his senior campaign and competed in the 5A Texas All-Star and 5A Houston All-Star games. Moro compiled a .395 batting average, leading coach Melvin Cerny’s THS Mustangs with 38 RBI, nine doubles and a school record-tying nine home runs. He finished the 2007 campaign with a .779 slugging percentage and threw out 16 base-stealers.
“Logan Moro has been a highly-competitive baseball player in both the high school and summer baseball scene in the city of Houston,” said Polk. “He committed to us quite some time ago, but he agreed to wait until after the pro baseball draft to sign with Mississippi State. Logan has attended several of our camps here at Mississippi State, where we have been able to watch him grow his baseball skills to the point where he became at attractive player for us and the Bulldog baseball program.”
The MSU signee is in his fourth year of competition with the Houston Heat select baseball team. Last year he compiled a .464 batting average with 35 RBI and six home runs, helping lead the Heat to runner-up honors in the 2006 WWBA World Championships.
“It has been a dream of mine for many years to play baseball at Mississippi State,” said Moro. “Now that it has come true, I could not be happier. I am fortunate to get the opportunity to play for head coach Ron Polk and the MSU coaching staff and look forward to getting to work this fall at Mississippi State.”
Moro is the son of Richard and Teresa Moro of Houston, Texas. He garnered All-Student/Athlete Academic Team honors for three years, graduating from James E. Taylor High School with honors and a 3.61 grade point average.
