MSU's Golden Coachman Breaks 800-Meter School Record At USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

The Birmingham, Ala.-native set the new school mark of 1:47.40 earlier this season at the 2007 Southeastern Conference Track and Field Championships. Before Coachman earned State’s new benchmark in the event, the record was held by Kraig Cesar since the 1988 campaign.
Coachman finished his first year in the Maroon and White as an all-American with a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Championships. He came to the Starkville campus by way of Wallace State Community College in Alabama. He served in military and was deployed to Iraq before continuing his track career.
Former Lady Bulldog standout Tiffany McWilliams is competing this week at the national event. On Friday, she posted the third-best overall time in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:09.93. The finals of the event will be contested Saturday at 1:26 p.m. CST.
Live television coverage of the finals of the two events will be carried by NBC from 1 p.m. -2 p.m. CST on Saturday. Sunday’s live window on the network will be from Noon-2 p.m. CST.
