More All-America Team Honors For Easley, Turner

Easley, from Olive Branch, Miss., was named to the first-team American Baseball Coaches Association All-American team and to the second-team All-America unit selected by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).
Turner, a second-year freshman from Cleveland, Tenn., was accorded second-team All-America team honors as a shortstop by the NCBWA.
A starter in all 59 games this season, Easley has fashioned a .360 batting average and leads the team with 86 hits, 58 runs scored, 12 home runs and 63 RBI. He has snuffed out 29 base-stealing attempts and in Friday’s College World Series opener registered his third pick-off of the campaign.
Easley was the 61st player selected in Major League baseball’s June draft, a supplemental first round pick of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
A first-team All-SEC and second-team Louisville Slugger All-America team selection, Easley was the recipient of the 2007 Cellular South Ferriss Trophy, presented annually to the top collegiate baseball player in Mississippi. He is one of three finalists for the 2007 Coleman Company Johnny Bench Award.
Turner, who has battled back from a late-season hamstring injury, leads the Bulldogs with a .397 batting average. He ranks tied for second on the team with 81 hits and sports a team-best .442 on-base percentage. He was previously named by Collegiate Baseball magazine to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America team.
