MSU's Edward Easley Adds All-America Team Honor

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State junior catcher Edward Easley has added another honor to his growing list of credits for the 2007 campaign.
Easley, from Olive Branch, Miss., has been named to the 2007 Louisville Slugger All-American baseball team, earning second team honors on the team compiled by Tucson-based Collegiate Baseball newspaper.
The Bulldog receiver has caught all 53 games this season, compiling a/373 batting average while leading the team with 79 hits, 12 home runs and 60 RBI. Earlier this month Easley earned first-team All-Southeastern Conference honors and was tabbed the winner of the Cellular South Ferriss Trophy as the top collegiate baseball player in Mississippi. One of 10 semifinalists for the Coleman Company/Johnny Bench Award, Easley leads the SEC with 28 base-stealers retired.
Easley is one of eight SEC players to receive first, second or third-team all-America honors.
Mississippi State begins its 30th advancement to NCAA postseason competition Friday in Tallahassee, Fla., meeting first-time foe Stetson University at 12 p.m. (CDT) in the opening game of the 2007 NCAA Tallahassee Regional. No. 6 national seed and tourney host Florida State meets Bethune-Cookman in the 6 p.m. (CDT) game Friday.
