Scrimmage Review Shows Defensive Effort; Senior Pro Day Set For Wednesday

I was pleased with our defense, Croom said. We hit well and had some guys step up. Our pursuit and tackling got a lot better and we didn't miss tackles.
The Bulldogs returned to work on Tuesday with a nearly-three-hour workout; and with an emphasis on situations throughout the field, the head coach was not totally satisfied.
We worked on first and third down situations all over the field, Croom said. We didn't execute well on offense just didn't make plays.
We were a little tired and sluggish, he continued. But we are getting better on defense. (Derek) Pegues is competing. Gabe O'Neal is having a good spring. I like our defense's chances, but we need those tackles to come along and be able to play.
Several former members of the MState football team were on hand at practice as they prepared for senior pro day on Wednesday. Scouts and executives from around the National Football League are expected to be on hand as seniors Antonio Johnson, Deljuan Robinson, Michael Heard, Brian Anderson, Omarr Conner and others work out.
The current Bulldogs will take Wednesday off before returning to the practice fields on Thursday afternoon.
