Dawgs Dominate ULM With Record-Setting Offensive Showing

STARKVILLE - Mississippi State racked up a school record 762 yards of total offense on the way to a dominant 62-13 win over ULM in the 2026 season opener. If you missed anything - or just want to relive it - here's what all went down on the First Saturday in StarkVegas.
1st Quarter
12:21 - Kamario Taylor gets the Bulldogs on the board with a six-yard strike to Sanfrisco Magee. Kyle Ferrie's PAT gives Mississippi State the early 7-0 lead.
10:20 - It didn't take long for Mississippi State to add on. Zion Ragins finds pay dirt for his first touchdown as a Bulldog and State grabs a 14-0 advantage.
5:58 - Feels safe to say this won't be the last time you'll read the following sentence this season. Kamario Taylor keeps it himself to add six more points. It's 21-0 Dawgs after the extra point.
2nd Quarter
13:15 - On the heels of a ULM field goal, Mississippi State answers right back and then some as Anthony Evans III makes a move and finds the end zone. It's 28-3 in favor of MSU.
8:32 - Make it 31-3 State. Kyle Ferrie nails a 26-yard field goal to extend the Dawgs' lead.
3:59 - Ferrie's foot delivers again. This time State's kicker connects from 32 yards out and Mississippi State leads, 34-3.
0:35 - Xavier Gayten sends the Bulldogs into halftime with a 14-yard scoring run. MSU carries a 41-3 lead into the locker room.
3rd Quarter
13:36 - State sends an early second-half message. Kamario Taylor drops a dime to Marquis Johnson for a 70-yard score and MSU lead gets even bigger. It's 48-3 in favor of the Maroon and White.
4th Quarter
7:50 - ULM used a touchdown and field goal in the third quarter to cut into the State lead. However, MSU restored order in the final period. It started when JJ Hill began his collegiate career in style with a 57-yard touchdown run to put Mississippi State up 55-13.
2:44 - It was so nice, JJ Hill did it twice. The true freshman put an exclamation point on State's victory with his second touchdown run of the night.

Mississippi State hits the road for the first time this season. The Bulldogs travel to Minnesota to battle the Golden Gophers at 2;30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 12. The game will be televised by CBS.
