March 03, 2026 | Men's Basketball
THE BOTTOM LINE: Mississippi State fell short in Gainesville at No. 5 Florida by a final score of 108-74 on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs came out fighting hard with an efficient offensive start, jumping out to an early 24-14 lead. But the Gators responded with an 18-0 run over a 6:03 span on their way to taking a 47-35 halftime edge. In the second half, Florida added seven unanswered early to maintain a comfortable double-digit lead the rest of the way. The Bulldogs were unable to string together enough stops and buckets to mount a comeback.
KEY NUMBERS: Josh Hubbard led State in scoring with 21 points. He also had five assists. Jayden Epps added 14 points and four assists in the effort, but it wasn't enough for the Dawgs. A major key to the MSU loss was Florida's dominant performance on the glass, outrebounding State 53-26.
NEXT FOR MSU: The Bulldogs will return home to wrap up the regular season on Senior Day against Georgia on Saturday, March 7, at Humphrey Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 2:30 p.m. and the contest will be aired on SEC Network.
