KUJAWY POMORZE, Poland – Mississippi State alumni Navasky Anderson and Abdullahi Hassan advance to the 800m semifinals at the World Indoor Championships.
Anderson (JAM) and Hassan (CAN) both earn time qualifying spots in tomorrow's semifinals, finishing in 11th and 13th place, respectively. They are both the only athletes from their respective countries to advance to the semifinals.
Anderson raced in the first heat of the prelims, finishing third at 1:46.34. While missing an automatic qualification spot, his time was fast enough to secure him a time-qualifying bid.
Hassan raced in the third section of the prelims, finishing fourth in his race in 1:46.47. His section was the fastest overall, earning him a time-qualifying bid to the semifinals. This marks Hassan's first advancement past the prelims at a World Championships.
