COLUMBIA, S.C. – No. 7 Mississippi State earned a top-15 road victory Friday, defeating No. 14 South Carolina 4-3 at the Carolina Outdoor Tennis Center in Columbia.

Mississippi State secured the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. The No. 5 duo of Petar Jovanovic and Benito Sanchez Martinez defeated No. 10 Lucas Andrade de Silva and Paul Barbier Gazeu 6-3 on court one, while No. 38 Roberto Ferrer Guimaraes and Bryan Hernandez Cortes picked up a 6-3 victory over Atakan Karahan and Charlie Swaine on court three. The win marked the fifth consecutive doubles victory for Jovanovic and Sanchez Martinez.

Mississippi State extended the lead early in singles when No. 8 Jovanovic defeated No. 40 Sean Daryabeigi 6-3, 6-3 on court two before Raphael Vaksmann further extended the Bulldogs' lead with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Max Stenzer on court five.

The Gamecocks fought back with three straight wins on courts three, one and six to level the match at 3-3, setting up a deciding match on court four. No. 125 Niccolo Baroni delivered the clincher for the second straight match, defeating Atakan Karahan 6(3)-7, 6-1, 6-2 to seal the 4-3 victory for the Bulldogs. It marked Baroni's third match-clinching win of the season.
