THE BOTTOM LINE: Mississippi State's 2025-26 season came to a close on Wednesday afternoon with a 79-61 loss to Auburn at the Southeastern Conference Tournament in Nashville, Tennessee. The Bulldogs started strong, enjoying a 12-1 run in the first half to jump out to a 33-23 edge, but Auburn stopped its bleeding with seven unanswered to make it a 33-30 game heading into the locker room at halftime. In the second half, the Tigers seized control. Auburn grabbed a 51-40 advantage with 14:05 remaining. The Bulldogs were able to battle back and cut their deficit to three at 56-53 over a 4:40 span, but Auburn responded and iced the game with a 23-8 run.
KEY NUMBERS: Josh Hubbard led State with 22 points and three assists on the day. Achor Achor tallied seven points and eight boards in the effort, but it wasn't enough for the Dawgs.
YEAR IN SUMMARY: The Maroon and White finished the 2025-26 campaign with a 13-19 overall record and a 5-14 mark against SEC competition including Wednesday's loss.
