Belchior Named SEC Freshman Of The Week
February 04, 2026 | Women's Golf
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the first time in her career, Ines Belchior was named the Southeastern Conference's Freshman of the Week. The honor comes on the heels of Belchior's career-best tournament at the UCF Challenge.
Â
Belchior finished T7 at the UCF Challenge with a three-day total of 210 (-6). The freshman from Lisbon, Portugal, opened the tournament with a round of 2-under and followed it up with a 4-under round in round two. She capped off the tournament with an even-par round, which marked the first time in her career she has shot par or better in all three rounds of a tournament.
Â
Belchior's 4-under second round was her second career round in the 60s and was one stroke shy of tying her career-best round of 5-under, which she shot in the second round of the Mason Rudolph Championship.
Â
Belchior has now shot par or better in five rounds so far this season, which places her in a tie for tenth on State's freshman list for par or better rounds in a single season. Her two rounds in the 60s places her in a tie for fourth-most par or better rounds by an MSU freshman, joining current MSU golfers Avery Weed and Izzy Pellot.
Â
Belchior and the Bulldogs will be back in action for the Moon Golf Invitational, which kicks off on February 16 in Melbourne, Florida.
