
No. 5 Mississippi State Sweeps South Alabama 7-0

STARKVILLE – No. 5 Mississippi State delivered a dominant performance on Tuesday afternoon, sweeping South Alabama 7-0 at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre.
The Bulldogs controlled the match from the outset, claiming the doubles point and carrying that energy into singles play en route to their four home victory. With the win, Mississippi State moved to 10-2 overall, while South Alabama fell to 2-5 on the season.
Mississippi State secured the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. The No. 47 duo of Mario Martinez Serrano and Michal Novansky earned a 6-3 victory over Juan Accossatto and Jules Caby, while Roberto Ferrer Guimaraes and Bryan Hernandez Cortes followed with a 6-2 decision on court three. The fourth-ranked tandem of Petar Jovanovic and Benito Sanchez Martinez led 5-3 on court one when play was halted.
In singles, the Bulldogs showcased their depth, capturing all six courts. Thirty-third-ranked Mario Martinez Serrano was first off the court with a commanding 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3. Raphael Vaksmann added a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 4, and 55th-ranked Bryan Hernandez Cortes secured a 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 triumph at No. 5.
The Bulldogs started strong in singles play with two-set wins on courts three and four to quickly build momentum. Bryan Hernandez Cortes added another straight-set win at No. 5 before the Bulldogs closed out the sweep with three-set victories on courts one, two and six, sealing the 7-0 result and capping a dominant afternoon at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre.
