OXFORD – For over a decade and a half, Bulldog great Barry Stewart stood as Mississippi State men's basketball's king of 3s. On Saturday night in Oxford against Ole Miss, Josh Hubbard ascended to the throne and took the crown.
Hubbard's trey with 6:21 left in the first half gave him 281 triples for his career, making him the State program's all-time leader in 3s. The junior's accomplishment came in only his 94th career game. Stewart's previous record was set over 141 career contests.

It was just the latest Hubbard highlight in what has already been a prolific run in the Maroon and White. So much of that success has surrounded his long-range ability.
Earlier this season, Hubbard set the Southeastern Conference's all-time record for consecutive games with a 3-pointer. Hubbard sank a trey in 69 consecutive games dating from February of 2024 to January of this year.
The streak began during Hubbard's All-SEC freshman season that saw him amass 108 3s. The Madison, Mississippi, native nailed 108 more triples in his sophomore season on the way to further All-SEC accolades. The two seasons of 108 3s stand as the two highest single-campaign totals in MSU hoops history.
Hubbard's prowess from deep has put him in elite company in terms of all-time scoring at MSU. He already holds two of the top nine single-season scoring campaigns in State history.
Hubbard also currently stands at sixth in Mississippi State program history in career scoring behind only Rickey Brown, Jim Ashmore, Quinndary Weatherspoon, Bailey Howell and record holder Jeff Malone.
