STARKVILLE โ Mississippi State staged a strong second half rally but ultimately couldnโt complete the comeback as the Bulldogs fell 25-23 to Vanderbilt on homecoming Saturday at Davis Wade Stadium.
MSU quickly trimmed a 16-0 halftime deficit down to two points with a pair of touchdowns early in the third quarter, but the Dawgs got no closer to the Commodores.
State did have a chance to even things up in the closing seconds after a clutch touchdown pulled MSU back within two. However, the Bulldogs' two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful and Vandy recovered the ensuing onside kick to seal its victory.
