Perry Earns Third Career SEC Weekly Honor
September 15, 2025 | Soccer
STARKVILLE – After her instrumental performance in Mississippi State's defeat of No. 1 Tennessee, Ally Perry has been named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week. The Bulldog captain posted a career-high five points with two goals and assist in the upset.
Â
Perry's performance throughout the season culminated in heroics on Friday night. She scored twice in the final 20 minutes of the game and had an assist on the first goal. The first goal of the night also happened to be the first goal the Lady Volunteers had allowed all year. The finale, with just 64 seconds left to play, was Perry's second career game-winning goal against the nation's top-ranked team, the first being last year in the Bulldog's win over then No.1 Arkansas.
Â
Her efforts marked the first five-point game by a Bulldog since MaKayla Waldner scored twice and added an assist in the 2019 match against Auburn. Waldner and Perry's nights were eerily similar as she too assisted on the game's first goal, saw her team fall behind, 2-1, and scored twice with the game-winner in the final two minutes of play.
Â
Perry continues to lead the team in assists (5), points (11), shots (29) and shots on goal (13). She is also tied with Zoe Main for the team lead in goals (3). The Frisco, Texas, native now has eight career game-winning goals and 15 career assists, both of which are tied for third in MSU career history. She entered the top 10 in program history in career goals on Friday night as well.
Â
Perry is no stranger to SEC weekly honors. She was named the league's Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 6, 2024, and Freshman of the Week on Oct. 4, 2021. State won six SEC weekly honors in four different weeks last season. Perry's is the Bulldogs' first honor of 2025.
Â
Mississippi State returns to the pitch on Thursday, Sept. 18, when the Bulldogs travel to Austin, Texas. That match will see the defending SEC regular season champions take on the SEC Tournament champion Texas Longhorns at 7 p.m. CT on ESPNU.
