July 21, 2025 | Soccer
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State soccer's Ilana Izquierdo has signed a professional contract with Atletico San Luis in Mexico's Liga MX Femenil.
Â
Izquierdo played the 2023-24 seasons in Starkville and was a key member of the Bulldogs' 2024 SEC Championship team. She was a Second Team All-SEC selection last year and finished her MSU career with 38 matches started, six goals and seven assists. In her first season as a Bulldog, Izquierdo led the team with a program-record 2,097 minutes played.
Â
She made her senior national team debut while playing in Starkville and started every match of the 2024 CONCACAF Gold Cup for Colombia, reaching the quarterfinals. From there, Izquierdo went on to play in three of four Olympic matches, starting twice, and has started both matches for Colombia in the Copa America this summer.
Â
Of the 10 Bulldogs to exhaust their eligibility following the 2024 season, six have now signed professional contracts. Izquierdo joins former teammates Rylie Combs and Aitana Martinez-overseas. Combs is playing for Eskilstuna United in Sweden, and Martinez-Montoya signed with Racing Power FC in her native Portugal. Meanwhile, Maddy Anderson, Hannah Johnson and Macey Hodge all signed with NWSL clubs following their collegiate careers. Hodge remains active with Angel City FC, and Johnson has since moved to Lexington Sporting Club in the USL Super League.
