Endicott Exempt For U.S. Amateur
June 26, 2025 | Men's Golf
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State golfer Garrett Endicott has earned an exemption into the 125th United States Amateur Championship. The event will take place on August 11-17 at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, California.Â
Â
The rising senior from San Antonio made his way into the field by being ranked in the top 100 of the World Amateur Golf Rankings, currently standing at No. 83.
Â
Endicott put together an excellent junior campaign in the Maroon and White, starting all 11 team events with two top-five finishes and three top 10s. He led the Bulldogs in scoring average (71.58) and rounds in the 60s (11) while also notching 17 par or better rounds and five top 20s.
Â
He was named SEC Golfer of the Week on March 12th for his runner-up performance at the Desert Mountain Collegiate and was selected to the PING All-Southeast Region Team.Â
Â
His summer slate has gotten off to a strong start with a seventh-place showing at the Sunnehanna Amateur and a top 20 at the Northeast Amateur, two of the premier amateur tournaments in the United States. His current standing of No. 83 in the WAGR is his career best.
Â
The U.S. Amateur is the oldest golf championship in the United States, having been first played in 1895. It is considered the premier event in amateur golf with the illustrious status of a non-professional major championship. Past winners include multiple-time professional major champions Bobby Jones, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods.Â
Â
The event begins with 36 holes of stroke play. The top 64 players enter a bracket-style match play format to determine the champion.Â
Â
This will be Endicott's second-consecutive appearance in the U.S. Amateur, having missed the match play portion by one shot in 2024.
