Bulldogs Conclude SEC Championship
April 25, 2025 | Men's Golf
ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Mississippi State's men's golf team concluded play at the SEC Championship with a 12th-place finish.
Â
"Today was a tough day for us," head coach Dusty Smith said. "I thought we played some solid golf today but made some uncharacteristic mistakes on the back nine that cost us. We were in good position to take advantage with about seven holes left but didn't do the simple things at a high-enough level to get into match play. We have to own that and continue to learn that we don't have to be special to be great; we just have to be elite at doing the simple things well.
Â
I couldn't be prouder of this team. They fought to the very end and never gave in. That is a testament to what this team is built on and our culture of toughness. Everything we want is still in front of us. We know we are heading to NCAA Regionals, and I know these guys will be prepared for their next opportunity."
Â
Dain Richie led State on Friday with a 1-under 69, carding five birdies. He wrapped up his first SEC Championship at even par and leads the team with 19 rounds of par or better for the season.
Â
Garrett Endicott joined Richie with an even-par showing, fighting back from a tough front nine in the final round of stroke play to finish the day with a 2-over 72.
Â
Josep Serra carded three birdies in his final round to shoot a 71 while Harrison Davis birdied the last hole to finish at 74. Ugo Malcor rounded out State's group with a 77.
Â
The Bulldogs will now await their NCAA Tournament fate. The Golf Chanell will air the NCAA Tournament Selection Show on April 30 at noon CT.Â
