April 21, 2025 | Soccer
STARKVILLE – Veteran forward Nancy Almanza will join the Mississippi State soccer team this fall, head coach Nick Zimmerman announced on Monday. Almanza comes to Starkville from Jacksonville State where she was named Second Team All-Conference USA in 2024.
Â
She posted eight goals and 13 assists last fall, including five goals in conference play to lead the Gamecocks. She scored her first Division I goal against Alabama State in early September and added two assists for a four-point day and later recorded two multi-goal games to close the month out. Almanza closed her first season in Division I soccer with goals in each of Jacksonville State's final three regular-season matches.
Â
The forward from DeLand, Florida, spent her first two collegiate seasons in the junior college ranks at Eastern Florida State College. As a sophomore, she helped the Titans reach the NJCAA National Championship match and was named to the All-NJCAA Tournament Team. Almanza led EFSC with 11 goals and added six assists for 28 points in 18 matches. She recorded a hat trick in October of 2023.
Â
In her freshman season, she took EFSC to the NJCAA National Semifinal match and ranked second on the team in goals (10) and points (24). She found the back of the net in each of the final four matches she played that season, including a goal and an assist in each of ESFC's final two matches at the NJCAA national tournament.
Â
Almanza played club soccer for Florida Elite Soccer Academy and DeLand High School. She recorded 3 3points on 14 goals and five assists as a junior and scored nine goals as a senior. She average more than a goal per game as a freshman, junior and senior.
