Bair Named SEC Field Athlete Of The Week For The Second Time This Season
April 15, 2025 | Track & Field
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State combined events athlete Peyton Bair was named the SEC Field Athlete of the Week, his second weekly conference honor of the season.
Bair, the reigning NCAA indoor heptathlon champion, opened his season at the 44 Farms Team Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M, last weekend. His 8,111-point performance in the decathlon won the event by over 500 points and set a new conference, collegiate, and world lead in the event.
Just 20 points under his personal best, Bair also shattered the 44 Farms Team Invite decathlon meet record.
A pillar of the program's success, Bair's performance helped catapult the men's USTFCCCA team ranking, which now sits at No. 12 after falling out of the top 25 last week.
This is the second time the combined events athlete has held the collegiate lead this season, after sitting comfortably at the top of the heptathlon performance list during the indoor season.
The Bulldogs will continue competition this weekend, traveling to Gainesville for the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational.
