Bulldogs Finish Third At Old Waverly Collegiate Championship
April 15, 2025 | Men's Golf
WEST POINT, Miss. – Mississippi State men's golf put together a third-place showing at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship with three Bulldogs making the top 10. State finished the tournament with a total of 5-under 859.
Â
"It was definitely a battle out there today," head coach Dusty Smith said. "Tough hole locations and a north wind made the course show some teeth today. I thought we battled throughout the day but ultimately made a few too many mistakes on the back nine that cost us too many shots.
Â
"We have a lot of guys doing some really good things, but we need to have a full team effort as we head into postseason. This team is made up od the right character, and we can't wait to get after it this postseason."
Â
The Dawgs were led by Ugo Malcor, whose sixth-place finish marks his best as a Bulldog. He carded a gritty even-par final round to total 5-under for the event.
Â
Harrison Davis was right behind him in seventh, his best showing at MSU. He birdied two of his last three holes to complete a round of 73 and finished at 4-under.
Â
Dain Richie rounded the trio of top-10 finishers in ninth place at 3-under overall. This is his second top 10 of the season and fifth top-20 finish in his last six starts.
Â
Trip Duke, competing as an individual, placed 19th for his best at State. Fellow individual Alejandro Fierro finished 26th while David Beard improved eight spots on the field Tuesday to end up 52nd.
Â
Garrett Endicott and Drew Wilson completed the Bulldogs' team lineup by placing 33rd and 69th, respectively.
Â
MSU concludes its regular season and looks forward to the SEC Tournament on April 23-25 in St. Simons Island, Georgia.
