Bair Named USTFCCCA South Region Indoor Athlete Of The Year
March 21, 2025 | Track & Field
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State combined events athlete Peyton Bair was named the USTFCCCA South Region Indoor Athlete of the Year, in a vote determined by the USTFCCCA member coaches.
Bair took home the USTFCCCA award after a stellar performance at the NCAA Indoor Championships to cap off a historic season for Bair and the Mississippi State men's program. As the first national champion for State in over a decade, and the first men's heptathlon champion in program history, Bair has cemented himself in the legacy of MSU track and field. His performance of 6,013 points was enough to secure the national title in the event at his first NCAA Indoor Championships. Bair, along with the six other Bulldogs that competed at the indoor national championships, earned First-Team All-American honors.
The Kimberly, Idaho native is the first man to win this award for Mississippi State since its inception in 2006. The only other Bulldog to earn the honor was former combined events standout Erica Bougard, back in 2014. Bair joins the likes of some of the biggest names in track and field who have won this title in previous years. He is the first combined events athlete to win the title since 2023, held by Kyle Garland of Georgia.
Bair looks to start the outdoor season this weekend at the Alumni Bulldog Relays, held at the home facility, the Mike Sanders Track Complex.
