Sacco Named Softball America Star Of The Week
March 18, 2025 | Softball
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State's Sierra Sacco was tabbed one of four national Stars of the Week by Softball America on Tuesday after leading the No. 18 Bulldogs to their first series victory at Alabama in program history.
Â
It was nearly impossible to get Sacco out in the series, as she reached base in 11-of-12 plate appearances. By the end of the series, she was intentionally walked in her final trip to the plate. Against the Crimson Tide, she batted .636 with a pair of doubles and RBIs while drawing four walks, stealing two bases and scoring five runs.
Â
Sacco has been on a tear recently, riding a 27-game reached base streak that is the ninth-longest in program history. Along the way, she boasts a career-long 14-game hitting streak that has seen her post a .571 average with a third of her hits in that span going for extra bases.
Â
The Marrero, Louisiana, native leads the SEC in conference play with a .708 on-base percentage, and her .588 batting average in league games is second. Her OPS in conference play is 1.590.
Â
Additionally, she has continued to play flawless defense, recording 11 putouts and her third outfield assist of the season this weekend. She has gone 187 consecutive chances without an error, dating back to the 2023 season.
Â
Sacco's honor is the second time a Bulldog has been recognized in Softball America's weekly awards this season. Raelin Chaffin earned the recognition following the first week of the season.
