Anderson Signs NWSL Contract With Racing Louisville FC
March 12, 2025 | Soccer
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – SEC Goalkeeper of the Year Maddy Anderson has earned an NWSL roster spot, signing a short-term contract with Racing Louisville FC where she was a non-roster invitee this spring. Anderson and Racing Louisville will open the NWSL campaign on Saturday.
Â
Anderson is the fifth member of Mississippi State's 2024 SEC Championship team to sign a professional contract this year, and she is the third to join the NWSL ranks. The short-term contract will run through June 22.
Â
"This is a dream come true," Anderson said. "Ever since I was little, I have wanted to play in the National Women's Soccer League and now Racing Louisville is making that dream a reality. I am very thankful for the opportunity to start my professional career with an amazing club that challenges me to grow both on and off the field."
Â
Anderson broke the MSU career (39) and single-season (14) shutouts record during her tenue in Starkville. She also holds program records for goalkeeper starts (91) and wins (51). In her final campaign, she led the SEC in goals against average (0.47), which ranked eighth nationally, and save percentage (.846). Her 14 shutouts were second nationally and led the SEC.
Â
"I couldn't be more thrilled to hear the great news about Maddy," MSU head coach Nick Zimmerman said. "She has worked so hard for this moment, and I can't wait to see her continue to pursue her dream."
Â
In five seasons in Starkville, Anderson posted a 51-25-14 record between the posts with a career goals against average of 0.79. She played a total of 8,113 minutes in her collegiate career.
Â
Anderson joins former teammates Macey Hodge and Hannah Johnson in the NWSL. That duo is playing for Angel City FC, which will meet Racing Louisville on May 24 in Losa Angeles. Rylie Combs and Aitana Martinez-Montoya also signed professional contracts following the 2024 season. Combs is playing for Eskilstuna United in Sweden, and Martinez-Montoya signed with Racing Power FC in her native Portugal.
