
Jackson Scores In Pentathlon On Day One

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Mississippi State track and field concluded the first day of the SEC Indoor Championships in College Station, Texas.
The day began with Kennedy Jackson in the pentathlon, who took home first place in the 60m hurdles with a new personal best of 8.37. In the field event portion of the event, Jackson cleared 1.60m in the high jump, threw 10.50m in the shot put and jumped 5.88m in the long jump. She concluded the event in the 800m, running 2:22.35 to finish eighth overall as State's first scoring performance of the weekend.
Lewis Barber started the day in the heptathlon, running 7.20 for a new personal best in the 60m. He jumped a season's best of 7.01m in the long jump and threw 11.89m in the shot put. He concluded day one of competition in the high jump, clearing 1.81m to finish 12th. The heptathlon will continue competition tomorrow morning in the 60m hurdles.
The rest of the team began competition in the 200m and long jump, with Rickyla Fagan earning a personal best on the track. The DMR's closed day one out for the Bulldogs, with the women's team finishing 11th and the men's team finishing 12th.
Competition will resume tomorrow morning in the heptathlon 60m hurdles.
