Postgame Notes: No. 21 State at Oklahoma

TEAM NOTES
- No. 21 Mississippi State dropped a 93-87 shootout to Oklahoma during the program's first SEC trip to Lloyd Noble Center on Saturday afternoon.
- The Bulldogs fell to 19-8 overall and 7-7 in SEC action.
- Oklahoma has won back-to-back outings over the Bulldogs. However, State still holds a 3-2 all-time series edge.
- It marked only the third time in 21 games that State lost to a team outside the Associated Press Top 10 this season.
- The Bulldogs fell to 14-2 this season and to 48-7 over the last three seasons under Coach Jans when leading at halftime.
- Oklahoma scored its first 11 possessions to begin the second half to flip the score in its favor from down 37-34 to up 60-53 with 13:09 left.
- State would answer with eight of the next points to pull within one at 62-61 with 10:50 remaining. However, the Sooners would punch back with nine consecutive points to go back ahead by double figures, 71-61, at the 8:19 mark.
- The Bulldogs sliced a 14-point hole with 2:59 to go on the clock and clawed back to 90-87 after a Claudell Harris Jr. corner three-pointer inside the last 30 seconds.
- Oklahoma would salt the six-point win away and sank 3-of-4 at the foul line down the stretch as State misfired on its last four shot attempts.
- The Bulldogs won the rebounding battle by a 42-31 margin. However, the Maroon and White fell to 12-3 this season and to 46-15 under Coach Jans over the last three seasons when outrebounding its opponent.
- State forced 11 turnovers and cashed in 18 of the game's 33 points off mistakes.
- The Bulldogs fired in 17 of their 29 field goals on the interior en route to a 34-32 advantage in paint points.
- State grabbed 20 offensive rebounds and converted 21 of the game's 28 points on second chance opportunities.
- The Bulldogs dropped to 11-4 this season and to 24-8 under Coach Jans when having at least four players secure 10+ points.
- State is averaging 79.3 points per game, which sits at fifth in program history through 27 games.
- The Maroon and White has committed just 290 turnovers which shatters the program's lowest total through 27 games.
- The Bulldogs have ripped away 255 steals in 2024-25, which is the most in program history through 27 games.
- As a team, State connected on 29-of-73 from the field (39.7 percent), recorded a 10-of-31 clip from three point-territory (32.3 percent) and was 19-of-22 on its foul shots (86.4 percent)
- The Bulldogs have now drained 225 three pointers this season which sits at third best in program history through 27 games.
- State also has hit double-digit treys in nine outings this season.
- The Maroon and White fell to 10-3 this season and 33-9 over the past three seasons with Coach Jans at the helm when sinking at least 15 free throws.
- Conversely, Oklahoma recorded a 29-for-55 shooting effort (52.7 percent), hit on an 11-for-26 three-point clip (42.3 percent) and knocked down 24-34 at the charity stripe (70.6 percent).
PLAYER NOTES
Josh Hubbard
- Started his 41st consecutive game over the last two seasons.
- Began the scoring with a step back three-pointer from the wing.
- Buried at least one trey in 40 straight games dating back to the Georgia game on 02/07/2024.
- The 40-game run allowed Hubbard to eclipse Darryl Wilson in 1994-95 and 1995-96 for the longest streak in program history.
- Knocked down multiple triples in 24 of 27 games this season and in 53 of 62 career games.
- His four treys bring his career total to 194 which ties him with Lamar Peters (2017-18-19) for 7th place in program history.
- Notched a team-leading 19 points to go along with five assists, three rebounds and two steals. He connected on all seven of his free throw attempts.
- Recorded 1080 points for his career, which is the most points scored by a State player during their freshman and sophomore seasons in program history.
- The 1080 points also are the third-most in program history through 62 career games.
- Today's 19-point performance allowed Hubbard to surpass Larry Fry (1973-74-75) to take 37th place on the program's all-time scoring list.
- State is 18-8 this season and 36-20 over the last two seasons when Hubbard scores in double figures.
- State is 7-2 this season and 7-3 over the last two seasons when Josh Hubbard has 5+ assists.
- Dished out multiple assists in 24 out of 27 games this season and in 42 career outings.
- Swiped multiple steals for the eighth time this season and in 13 career games.

- State outscored Oklahoma in bench points by a 36-19 margin.

- KeShawn Murphy piled up 10 of his 16 points during the first half.
- Also grabbed seven rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block, and sank all six of his free throws.
