Bulldog Men No. 13 In Latest USTFCCCA Rankings
February 20, 2025 | Track & Field
STARKVILLE – Coming off a successful indoor season, Mississippi State men's track and field rank No. 13 in the latest USTFCCCA National TFRI list heading into the postseason.
Steadily climbing the rankings, the Bulldogs have been a constant on the TFRI list this season. After being ranked No. 24 to start the season, the Bulldogs dropped out of the top 25, then made an 18-place jump to No. 16 last week. After a stellar showing at both the Music City Challenge and Tiger Paw Invite, the men jumped another three spots to No. 13, the highest place of the season.
In addition to the team rankings, the Bulldogs have held their own in the USTFCCCA #EventSquad rankings. The men's 800m squad led the nation early in the season, now holding constant as the seventh-fastest squad in the country. The team is led by Abdullahi Hassan and Louis Vercueil, who are currently Nos. 2 and 22 in the NCAA, respectively. The women's 800m squad was the second fastest early in the season, now in the No. 16. Arkansas and Kentucky are the only SEC squads ahead of the Bulldogs on either side.
The men's 60m squad is currently the eighth-fastest team in the nation, after holding the No. 7 spot for much of the indoor season. Nicholas Fakorede has the fastest time on the team and sits at No. 17 nationally. The women's 60m hurdle squad has stayed consistent at No. 15, and the men's long jump squad sits at No. 21 in the country.
The Bulldogs will compete at the SEC Championships next weekend in College Station, Texas.
