STARKVILLE — Mississippi State freshman quarterback Kamario Taylor was named the Co-SEC Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Taylor earned his first career honor after helping Mississippi State defeat Arkansas 38-35 on Saturday in Fayetteville, where he helped to jump-start a comeback for the Bulldogs midway through the third quarter.
In the contest, Taylor completed two of his five passes for 40 yards and a touchdown to Anthony Evans III. He also was State's leading rusher with 55 yards on six carries, highlighted by a long run of 20 yards that went for a touchdown. The game was his first career multi-touchdown performance.
On the year, Taylor has thrown for 87 yards and three touchdowns, including touchdown passes in back-to-back games, to go along with 147 yards rushing and two scores.
This was Taylor's first career weekly honor and the fourth for a Bulldog this season. Taylor joins Nic Mitchell, Albert Reese IV and Will Whitson, who have earned SEC honors in 2025.
