- Mississippi State and Ole Miss met for the 122nd time, and the 43rd time in Starkville … This was the 98th version of the "Battle For The Golden Egg".
- The Egg Bowl rivalry is the 10th longest running rivalry game in the nation, second-longest in the SEC.
- Ole Miss leads the all-time series, 67-49-6
- When the game is played in Starkville, Ole Miss leads, 25-15-3.
- Since 1991, the rivalry is led by Ole Miss at 18-17.
- Uniform Combo: Mississippi State wore a maroon helmet, maroon jersey and gray pants. The helmet had the white Interlocking MSU logo on it.
