Jepleting Earns Second SEC Weekly Honor

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State cross country runner Naomi Jepleting was named the SEC Freshman of the Week, announced by the SEC this afternoon.
This marks Jepleting's second SEC honor of the season, as she was named the Freshman of the Week on September 2.
Jepleting took the win at the Belhaven Invite, crossing the line in 20:41.2 for her first collegiate 6k race. Her time and finish helped the team to a first-place finish at the race.
Her time marks the 12th fastest in program history over the 6k. Jepleting leads the team in the 6k, along with her second-fastest 5k time in program history, ran earlier this season.
Before this season, State cross country hadn't earned an SEC award for a decade. This award is marked as the third of this season, with Jepleting's two honors and one for Nelly Jemeli last month.
Jepleting, along with the rest of the Bulldogs, will return to action at the Pre-National Invite, hosted by Missouri, on October 17.
