No. 13 Bulldogs Climb Five Spots In Second Round Of The Ally
October 21, 2025 | Women's Golf
WEST POINT, Miss. – After a weather delayed morning at Old Waverly Golf Club, the Mississippi State Bulldogs became the biggest movers in the second round of The Ally, jumping into fifth place after firing off a 13-under second round. State sits at 3-under as a team entering the final round.
Â
State's round of 13-under is the lowest any Bulldog team has shot in history at The Ally and is the second-best single round in event history. Four Bulldogs shot under par to help guide the Maroon and White to an impressive jump.
Â
Samantha Whateley climbed 39 spots from her opening day after shooting a career-best round of 6-under, beating her previous best score by two strokes. Whateley has now shot par or better in five rounds this season, bringing her career total to 18. It was also her 10th career round in the 60s, which made her the sixth Bulldog in program history to achieve double digit rounds in that category. Whateley sits in a tie for 11th going into the final round.
Â
Avery Weed continued the trend of an excellent fall season after collecting a 3-under round, moving her two-day total to a team-best 4-under. After Tuesday, ten of Weed's 11 rounds on the season have been under par, with six of those coming in the 60s. Weed enters the final day two strokes off the lead in sixth.
Â
Lynn van der Sluijs collected a season-best round. The freshman made her return to the course for the first time since the Carmel Cup in August when she teed off on Monday and finished Tuesday's round at 3-under par. The performance marked her first career par or better round and first round in the 60s.
Â
Izzy Pellot rounded out the Bulldog's four counting scores with a 1-under round. This was Pellot's third par or better round of the season. The senior climbed 13 spots during the second round and enters the final round tied for 37th at 3-over.
Â
State will look to extend their strong second round into the final day of action when they tee off at 9:15 a.m. Live scoring for The Ally is available at scoreboard.clippd.com.
