
Cross Country Closes Out Regular Season Strong

COLUMBIA, Mo. -Â Mississippi State cross country concluded its regular season stretch at the Pre-National Invitational this morning.
State earned an 11th-place team finish overall, among the 38 teams in the field, six of whom are ranked in the USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll. The Bulldogs finished ahead of conference foes Texas, No. 3 Florida, Ole Miss and Georgia.
Nelly Jemeli finished first for the team, crossing the line in 20:05.6 for a new personal best in the 6k. Her time is now the fourth fastest in program history over 6k.
Next to cross the line were Naomi Jepleting and Milicent Kemboi, finishing 71st and 77th overall. Kemboi crossed the line in 20:53.6 in her first collegiate 6k, cementing herself on the MSU top 20 all-time list.
Gabrielle Boulay and Louise Stonham rounded out the scorers for the Bulldogs, with Boulay running a season's best of 20:56.3.
Brooklyn Quanz and Ramat Jimoh served as the team's displacers and the sixth and seventh finishers for the Bulldogs.
Today's race marked the end of the regular season for State. The Bulldogs will be back in action at the SEC Cross Country Championships, hosted by Tennessee, on October 31.
