Sacco Named To Softball America’s Preseason Top 100
January 06, 2025 | Softball
STARKVILLE – Mississippi State senior outfielder Sierra Sacco was listed among Softball America's Preseason Top 100 on Monday morning. Sacco checks in as the No. 76 player overall and the No. 21 outfielder.
The Marrero, Louisiana, native has been named all-conference every year of her career. She was twice a First Team All-Conference USA selection while playing at Louisiana Tech and earned Second Team All-SEC honors last year. She was also a Second Team All-Region recipient last spring.
Entering the 2025 season, Sacco has started 169 consecutive games, which includes every game of her collegiate career. She is State's active leader in both games played and starts and will open the year having not made an error in 141 consecutive chances dating back to 2023.
Sacco closed the 2024 season on a six-game hitting streak, and led the team in batting average, multi-hit games and on-base percentage for the season. She ranked fifth in the SEC last spring with 19 stolen bases on 19 attempts, and she enters the 2025 campaign as the SEC's returning career leader with 83 stolen bases. That total ranks fourth among returning players nationally.
In addition, she posted top-10 single-season totals in program history for both walks and runs. The Bulldogs were 30-7 last year when she scored at least one run, and her 0.80 walks per game ranked third nationally.
Sacco and the Bulldogs will open the season in just over a month at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Florida. State last played in the event in Samantha Ricketts' first season as head coach, winning the tournament title in 2020. Opening Day 2025 is set for Feb. 7 as the Bulldogs meet Texas Tech and Penn State to begin the tournament.
