State Drops Contest To Rival Rebels

STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State Bulldogs dropped Sunday's contest against the Ole Miss Rebels by a final score of 71-63.
The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter, leading by as many as 10 with four and a half minutes to go in the opening quarter. State was unable to hold that lead, as they went into halftime with a five-point deficit and ultimately fell by eight.
Jerkaila Jordan finished with 19 points in the contest, the 12th time she has led the Bulldogs in scoring this season. Jordan also finished the game with three rebounds and three steals, the 51st time in her career she has gained three or more.
Eniya Russell earned 15 points on 6-9 shooting, including a pair of threes. It was the 16th game she has picked up double-figures this season and the 36th time she's done so in her career. Her two makes on three attempts behind the arc was the seventh time she has knocked down multiple threes. Russell also finished with five rebounds and a steal.
Madina Okot finished two points shy of a double-double, with 12 rebounds along with her eight points. Seven of Okot's 12 rebounds came in the first quarter. It marked the second time she has picked up 12 rebounds in an SEC contest, and the ninth time she has collected 10 or more shots off the glass.
Destiney McPhaul led the Bulldogs with five assists in the contest, which marked the fourth time she has earned five or more. She also finished the game with two steals. Quanirah Montague collected five rebounds, the 13th time in her career she's collected at least five boards.
The Bulldogs will be back in action in on Thursday when they take on the Auburn Tigers inside Humphrey Coliseum. The game will be streamed live on SECN+ beginning at 6:30 p.m.
