
Weed, Bulldogs Lead After Opening Round of Mason Rudolph Championship

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – After the opening round of the Mason Rudolph Championship, the Mississippi State Bulldogs sit in a tie for first place at 11-under par. Leading the Bulldogs in the opening round was Avery Weed.
The sophomore from Ocean Springs shot the best round of her college career in day one. She finished 7-under par, beating her previous best round by four strokes. Weed picked up a team-best eight birdies. Heading into the second round, Weed sits in first place.
After making the turn at one-over, Julia Lopez Ramirez caught fire. The junior from Spain strung together four birdies on the back nine to finish her day at 3-under par. Samantha Whateley and Chiara Horder both finished their days at 1-under par. The duo picked up their second round at par or better this season, with Whateley matching her total from last season.
As an individual, Ana Pina Ortega carded an even-par round. Izzy Pellot rounded out the team scorecard for State, as she finished 1-over.
