
Sanchez Martinez Starts Fall With A Win

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – All-American Benito Sanchez Martinez opened his fall season on a winning note on Monday at the ITF Fayetteville 15K.
Sanchez Martinez represented both Mississippi State and his home country of Germany at the event where downed American and former Trinity University standout Kartik Erodula in convincing fashion 6-2, 6-0. The junior from Potsdam advances to face another American, William Mroz, on Tuesday at 10 a.m.
Mroz is currently a senior at Illinois.
But that won't be the only match Sanchez Martinez is involved in on Tuesday. He'll take the court with doubles partner Petar Jovanovic as they take on Americans Tommy Czaplinski and Gray Voelzke. Newcomers Niccolo Baroni (Italy) and Mario Martinez Serrano (Spain) will also make their debuts representing MSU as they team up against Luis Carlos Alvarez Valdes (Mexico) and Kholowam Montsi (Oklahoma/South Africa).
Jovanovic and Sanchez Martinez are currently ranked by the ITA as the No. 1 doubles tandem in the nation. Both doubles matches are slated for Tuesday afternoon not before 12 p.m.
