State Secures Three Wins To Start Fall Slate

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Mississippi State's women's tennis team picked up two singles wins and one doubles triumph on the first day of the Debbie Southern Fall Classic on Friday.
Chiara Di Genova and Carolina Troiano paired up to defeat Georgia Tech's duo of Kylie Bilchev and Taly Licht 6-3. With the victory, Troiano earned her first collegiate doubles win and Di Genova, a transfer from Florida State, secured her first doubles win in the Maroon and White.
To begin singles play for the Bulldogs, Alessia Tagliente took down Furman's Alexa Griffith 6-4, 7-5. Later, Jayna Clemens defeated Asuncion Jadue of Kentucky 7-5, 6-3.
Freshmen Emma Cohen and Gianna Oboniye both won their respective first sets in singles in making their collegiate debuts but ultimately fell in three sets.
The tournament continues Saturday morning and will conclude on Sunday.
