KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Mississippi State midfielder Macey Hodge has been named to the United Soccer Coaches 2024 Division I Women's Players to Watch List, underscoring her status as one of the top midfielders in collegiate soccer heading into the new season.
Hodge's inclusion on this list follows a standout 2023 season in which she was named an All-SEC First Team Midfielder while also securing a place on the 2023 NCAA All-Southeast Region Second Team.
Known for her endurance, Hodge played the full 90 minutes in 17 matches and logged a season-high 110 minutes against Providence in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Her remarkable performances earned her a No. 63 ranking on TopDrawerSoccer's Top-100 players list to close out the year.Â
"Entering the 2024 season, these previous honorees represent some of the best at their positions," said Ralph Polson, Senior College All-America Administrator. "As pre-season training opens, we are pleased to recognize these outstanding student-athletes from our member schools. I would like to thank Jennifer Rockwood, DI Women's All-America Chair, Ryan Hopkins, DI Men's All-America Chair, and their respective committees for their efforts in compiling these lists."
Hodge's recognition as a Player to Watch reflects her significant contributions to the Mississippi State soccer program since she stepped onto the pitch in Starkville. Hodge's incredible skill set, leadership, and dedication to the game have earned her nationwide respect. Hodge's impact extends beyond individual accolades, contributing significantly to the team's historic achievements in the James Armstrong era.
Hodge's impressive Bulldog tenure includes a remarkable 73 games played, starting in 72 of them. The native of Douglasville, Georgia, has consistently demonstrated exceptional skill, leadership, and dedication on the pitch. Since joining the Maroon and White in 2020 as a redshirt freshman, she has played a total of 6,470 minutes for the Bulldogs, solidifying her status as one of the best to ever wear the Mississippi State kit.
