STARKVILLE – Trevion Williams was named to the 7th annual Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award Watchlist, the Maxwell Football Club announced on Wednesday.

The Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award has been presented to the College Freshman Player of the Year since 2018 and is named in honor of Shaun Alexander, a former standout at the University of Alabama and the 2005 NFL MVP with the Seattle Seahawks.
Â
The Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award watch list will incorporate a broad spectrum of Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) programs and conferences from coast to coast, with 37 candidates recognized.
Â
Williams, who enters his third season in 2024, is a redshirt freshman after earning a medical hardship waiver last season. He has played in six career games, three in 2022 and three in 2023. He has earned eight career tackles and two career tackles for loss.
Â
Bruce Feldman named Williams to his 2024 College Football Freaks List recently. Head Strength Coach Shaud Williams described Williams as "crazy twitchy" with a 33.5-inch vertical and a bench press of 455 pounds. Williams has even been clocked running at 19.56 miles per hour.
